Where are the posts about the dive bars?!?
I have been to a few, Renners in Multnomah village (the best IMHO) The Ship, also in Mult. Vill., Porky's, that bar down a block from Billy Reeds grrr brainfarting the name......
What other bars in portland dive way down low?

Tue, February 7, 2006 - 6:31 PMWhat's slabtown like?
...and what's the name referring to?
I don't go downtown much these days, but I've wondered what was up there ever since I first saw the Slabtown sign. -

Re: Real dive bars
Tue, February 14, 2006 - 3:05 PMSlabtown is apparently a hippie joint, but a bit older of a crowd. The jukebox is pretty kickin. I haven't been there much, but all I know is that it is cold and the ceiling leaks...but I guess that would be oh so perfect for the term 'dive,' now wouldn't it?
And please tell me if I'm wrong, but doesn't slabtown refer to the same deal as stumptown, i.e. the many many trees chopped down to build this city? Anybody...?

Tue, February 7, 2006 - 12:00 PMif it werent for the people that go in that place, I would enjoy breakfast there much more than I do now. I swear, do NOT go to Holmans if you want to have dinner and a conversation. -
