So, I am going to be in Portland Feb 29 to March 2, and I want to know where a cranky middle-aged woman can go have a drink (or more, as many as she likes) and only be bothered by men she wants to be bothered by?

I have been to a few, Renners in Multnomah village (the best IMHO) The Ship, also in Mult. Vill., Porky's, that bar down a block from Billy Reeds grrr brainfarting the name......

New To PDX

Hey all, I'm new to this tribe and I just moved to Portland, but I've already found a bar to call home. It's perfect, it's within walking distance so I can stumble home (don't have to worry about a DUI), it's cheap ($1.50 PBR pints) there's pool, and lots of interesting/shady characters. Where is this fine establishment you ask? Well it's the Glisan St. Pub (it's on Glisan near NE 80th). But they have one thing that's not very consistant with your traditional dive, an internet juke box, just to give it that special touch of class! Since I've been here, I've also visited to The Low Brow Lounge (which seems like a cool hang-out). It's got Dive potential, but it's a little to trendy to be a total dive. Although the tot's and mini corn dogs FUCKIN' ROCK (the perfect drunk munchies). Anyway I plan to frequent the Glisan St. Pub as long as I live in the neighborhood so if you drop in for a beer, and you see me at the bar, come by and say Hi, and maybe but me a beer for turning you on to it. Hope to see you there!

You guys must all be out drinkin or somethin' not much action in this tribe.

I wanted to join to say howdy. I have been going to dive bars for a really long time now....and some not so divey...something about the smell of stale liquor and cigarettes does it for me.

I also wanted to give a real loud shout of RIP to my buddy Dennis Bigelow, bartender extrordinare of 16 years at the Commodore who passed away a few weeks ago. Dennis was loved by many and many loved his stiff handed pours. This world is going to miss such a great man as himself, and be a lot more sober for it. I'll be plunkin quaters in the juke & playin yer favorite song Dennis, till the day we meet again on the whiskey river. Love you buddy.
